19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He saved four early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
